Can a man redeem a man?
Ps 49:7-9, 15
No man can redeem the life of another
or give to God a ransom for him–
8 the ransom for a life is costly,
no payment is ever enough–
9 that he should live on forever
and not see decay. . . .
15 But God will redeem my life from the grave;
he will surely take me to himself.
I never noticed it before, but does not this verse clearly say that a man cannot redeem another man

before God? And yet Jesus did. How? The answer is found a few verses later– “But God will redeem my life.” Thus, since the Bible teaches that Jesus personally redeemed us (Gal 4.5 and Titus 2.14), these Old Testament verses undeniably teach that Jesus is God.
This point may not be profound, but it is both comforting and amazing that a song used in Israel’s worship for hundreds of years before the Messiah’s birth taught His deity. God knew and had our redemption all planned out. Praise Him today.
